Can someone … anyone … explain how it is possible for a woman who is breast-feeding while intoxicated to be arrested while a pregnant woman who drinks goes free?
I am fed up with society’s hypocrisy when it comes to children, babies, or fetuses. There is no logical argument for there being a difference between a 7, 8, 9 month pregnant woman drinking, and a woman breast-feeding while drunk.
This constant struggle to simply try and figure out what is/is not a baby and what is/is not abuse and neglect will have to come to a head sooner or later.
Abortion is legal … unless you do it yourself. A pregnant woman can kill her 18 week old fetus, but someone else can’t? Have you ever even seen like during the time where a partial-birth abortion is performed?
A Grand Forks mother who police say was “extremely intoxicated” while breast-feeding her 6-week-old pleaded guilty to child neglect Tuesday.
Officers responded to an unrelated call at a Grand Forks residence in the early morning of Feb. 13 and saw 26-year-old Stacey Anvarinia slurring her speech and breastfeeding, prosecutor Meredith Larson told the judge.
Citing a police report, Larson said officers were concerned about the infant’s welfare, so they called Altru Hospital and were told that breast-feeding while intoxicated was not good for the child.
The joy is overwhelming even after all day to absorb it. I didn’t think Bush would pull the trigger, but he did the right thing. They will still be felons, but at least they are free.
Outside of conservative talk radio, Lou Dobbs and Fox News, the media has given little coverage to the crimes committed by two Border Patrol agents, Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. So they’ve scrambled to get the details on the story today, as President Bush commuted their sentences. Rep. Roy Blunt issued a statement “on the pardon” of the two — but a pardon it was not. The White House gave lip service to the idea that the two ought to have been punished; the sentence apparently was not commensurate with the crime. It’s a common complaint, so why did President Bush weigh in here? Enormous pressure from conservatives ensured that the file would end up on his desk, although it’s not clear whether the Justice Department had made a recommendation.
The Atlantic got everything else about the case wrong. They didn’t point out that the Army surgeon who testified at the trial said that the dealer was shot while in a “bladed position.” Which means that he was facing back at the officers in a manner consistent with pointing a gun at them. Nor did they address that one of the agents was thrown to the ground by the dealer before he fled, or all the illegal activity by the prosecutor and judge in the case. I could go on and on about how ballistics never matched the bullet to the agent’s gun, or that there was no cover up because supervisors and other agents were all there.
There is one source who had all of that though. Make sure you read WND’s reaction to the commutation.
An Augsburg College student says she was attacked and punched on election night, because of her support for Sarah Palin. 18-year-old Annie Grossmann tells KARE 11 she was assaulted after attending an election night party. “They saw the pin and they started calling me racist, and I’ve never seen these girls before,” Grossmann. Grossmann says 4 women confronted here, one of them grabbed her, began shouting at her, and wouldn’t let her go.
“After about 5 minutes or so I just got really sick of it, just holding me there by force. So I kind of pushed her back and started walking away. She grabbed me by the shoulder, I turned around, and she punched me in the eye,” she said. Bruce Grossmann, her father, says the punch caused his daughter to hit her head on a wall behind her.
Black students attack a white student while calling white student racist for wearing a Palin pin. Hypocrisy is what you get when you lack the ability to look into a mirror.
Hannah Foster, 17, dialed the emergency services in the hope that the operator would be able to hear the nature of her conversation with Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, a man said to have snatched her off a Southampton street as she walked home in 2003.
However, Winchester Crown Court was told, the operator could not hear what was being said and Hannah could not speak directly to the emergency services. As a result the police system automatically disconnected the call, a response intended to prevent the service becoming clogged with accidental calls from cell phones.
What a shame. She was later found strangled to death by a 14 year old boy, and she had been raped.
I know what your thinking … was the guy a Muslim? He is Indian so it is unlikely.
UPDATE: I’ve added the poll to this post at the bottom. It used to be in the left sidebar.
Oh my, what a doozie this case is. A 15 year old girl took naked pictures of herself, and sent them to classmates. She has been arrested and is being charged with felony child pornography.
Central Ohio authorities have filed felony charges against a 15-year-old girl accused of taking nude cell phone photos of herself and sending them to high school classmates.
Police say the Newark Licking Valley student was arrested Friday and held over the weekend. On Monday, she entered denials to juvenile charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and possession of criminal tools.
A spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general’s office says an adult convicted of the child pornography charge would have to register as a sexual offender, but a judge would have flexibility on the matter with a convicted juvenile.
A prosecutor says Licking County authorities also considering charges for students who received the photos.
Eek. I told you it was a doozy. Take a minute to take the poll in the sidebar. What do you think?
A woman who never registered with ACORN was found to be among the fraudulent registrations. Apparently her purse was stolen, and is now the victim of identity theft.
By now you’ve all heard that ACORN in Vegas has been raided. We’ve been having problems with the local ACORN office here for a couple of months now, and local talk radio has hit the issue. There were even some local candidates running for offices such as school board that have had scandals involving their ACORN memberships.
There is also a rumor that ACORN was hiring prisoners to help with Project Vote, but I have not confirmed if this is true yet. Nor do I know exactly how it would be possible.
Nevada state authorities are raiding the Las Vegas headquarters of an organization that works to get low-income people to vote.
A Nevada secretary of state’s office spokesman said Tuesday that investigators are looking for evidence of voter fraud at the office of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also called ACORN.
No one was at the ACORN office when state agents arrived with a search warrant and began carting records and documents away.
Nevada state authorities seized records and computers Tuesday from the Las Vegas office of an organization that tries to get low-income people registered to vote, after fielding complaints of voter fraud.
Bob Walsh, spokesman for the Nevada secretary of state’s office, told FOXNews.com the raid was prompted by ongoing complaints about “erroneous” registration information being submitted by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also called ACORN.
The group was submitting the information through a voter sign-up drive known as Project Vote.
“Some of them used nonexistent names, some of them used false addresses and some of them were duplicates of previously filed applications,” Walsh said, describing the complaints, which largely came from the registrar in Clark County, Nev.
Secretary of State Ross Miller said the fraudulent registrations included forms for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team.
“Tony Romo is not registered to vote in the state of Nevada, and anybody trying to pose as Terrell Owens won’t be able to cast a ballot on Nov. 4,” Miller said.
Walsh said agents from both the secretary of state’s office and Nevada attorney general’s office conducted the raid at 9:30 a.m. local time, and “took a bunch of stuff.” Miller’s office reported seizing eight computer hard drives and about 20 boxes of documents.
Bertha Lewis, interim chief organizer for ACORN, released a statement saying the group has for months been turning over any suspicious registration information to elections officials. She said those officials routinely ignored their tips, and called the raid a “stunt.”
BWAAAAHAHAHAHA! Tony Romo, and Terrell Owens? You have got to be kidding me. How pathetic can you get. If you are committing voter fraud, at least try to make it look legitimate.
I seem to recall a bunch of people talking about a fear of a gestapo here in the US based on Bush’s policies. The funny thing is that those fears were based on falsehoods, but those people are most likely all supporters of Obama. Why is this funny? Because Obama is actually using gestapo like tactics to silence political opponents. He’s even getting law enforcement involved.
We all remember how he repeatedly attempted to censor a radio station’s guests and hosts.
Now he’s actually using a secret police like tactic to silence his political opponents. Here’s a video link confirming that prosecutors and sheriffs are getting involved in harassing Obama’s critics. Notice that they will not perform the same duties for McCain even though McCain is lied about regularly in political ads. This includes the cancer ad.
The latest issue with the NRA ad, and the truth squads had Factcheck.org backing up Obama. I typically find Factcheck.org to be a reliable and solid source … though they have been wrong before. The NRA says they’re wrong now, but Factcheck.org says the NRA is wrong. Truth is … they’re both right and wrong. Obama’s campaign used this piece from Factcheck.org on the NRA ad to support his position to have AIP donors prosecuted and censored.
So if Factcheck.org says Obama is right what’s the big deal?
The advertisement is not illegal … even if it contains inaccuracies and spin. Obama has no legal standing to censor the ad, or go after donors of the organization that produced it. Most, if not all, political ads have inaccuracies, half-truths, and blatant lies. It’s up to us, the voter, to dig through the spin and find the truth.
I would also like to point out that McCain is not pursuing the same legal tactics that Obama is. Even though he too has the support of Factcheck.org.
Factcheck.org recently posted about how Obama’s ad on a Pennsylvania plant is false, or how about an Obama ad that misled voters on McCain and health care deregulation, Obama lying about McCain’s social security plan, and scaring seniors by lying and saying McCain would cut their benefits in half. Hell, Palin could also use Obama’s tactics (according to his logic) and legally go after a greenie group for misleading people on shooting wolves.
All of those stories and more are from Factcheck.org. Yet only Obama chose to go after American citizens who are exercising their First Amendment right to free speech. McCain has allowed them to exercise that right … even though it involves lying about him. Why? Because there is nothing illegal about it. Obama doesn’t care that it isn’t illegal, and apparently he has found some justice officials who don’t care either.
There is only one candidate using tactics that simulate gestapo behavior (minus the murder of course). There is only one candidate who doesn’t believe you have the right to free speech. There is only one candidate who is willing to break the law, and find government officials to help, in order to censor you. That candidate is Obama … not McCain. That should scare you.
For those of you who follow these things, you’ll know that an increasing number of woman are being caught lying about being raped. There has always been a problem for men accused of rape in that they are automatically assumed guilty. Over the past several years we’ve been able to clear several men who were serving prison time for rape by using DNA.
Notice: No one is saying that rape is ok, or that it is not a serious problem. I am simply pointing out that women who have been getting away with falsley claiming rape are increasingly getting caught … that is a good thing for everyone.
A Winnipeg man awaiting trial for rape has had all charges dropped after the alleged victim admitted she sent the accused cards and explicit love letters behind bars.
Crown prosecutor Wendy Friesen initially told court earlier this month that the woman adamantly denied sending the letters and that they must have been forgeries.
But after a brief recess, Friesen said the woman changed her story and admitted she had written them.
The woman claimed in the letters that she missed the accused and was pregnant with his child.
The woman had originally claimed the accused broke into her home in October 2007, choked her, forced her to drink alcohol and snort cocaine, and then took advantage of her after she passed out.
Defense lawyer Sheldon Pinx said the woman should be charged with mischief, obstruction of justice or even perjury.
