Politicians are well-known for wasting our money so they can live very comfortably. While many of us are outraged over such lavish waste, libs tend to forgive the behavior (unless a Republican does it). However, using the taxpayer’s dime to reap such rewards is one thing … taking money from our troops so you can pound shots with your buddies is another thing altogether.
When members of Congress travel overseas at the expense of the Department of Defense, they are treated to thousands of dollars worth of alcohol and other amenities. A review by The Wall Street Journal of congressional disclosure documents for 43 trips found that expenditures averaged $4,300 per trip—and that’s just what has been reported. Lawmakers are required to declare what they spend on travel but not what others like the Pentagon do on Congress’ behalf.
In March 2008, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and nine other lawmakers traveled to England, India and Spain. Their flight included $438.75 worth of alcohol, including three cases of beer, 15 bottles of wine, three bottles of vodka, Crown Royal, Dewar’s and other liquor, plus another $750 worth of chips, cakes and other snacks—all of which were paid for by the U.S. Air Force.
A junket taken by Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) to Africa in December 2008 included $3,360 in “emergency requests” paid for by the military. Some of Inhofe’s party went to a Wal-Mart and bought $130 worth of cookies, mints and other munchies for the trip. They also spent $250 at Total Wine & More.
Joel Johnson, a defense-industry analyst with the Teal Group Corporation and former staffer for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said the military-funded trips help provide a “bonding” experience between lawmakers and Pentagon officials which “is helpful for the military when they are seeking particular things in appropriations or authorizations.”
When will my congressional representatives go on a “bonding” trip with me, or any of their other constituents?

His lack of understanding of military continues to be staggering. Almost as bad as Kucinich even. I need not comment more.

Where the hell was he when we were telling him Obama’s agenda was concerning?
In a wide-ranging interview set to air Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, one of President Barack Obama’s most prominent Republican supporters says he is ‘concerned’ about the new president’s ambitious agenda and the high price tags accompanying many of Obama’s initiatives.
“I’m a little concerned,” former Secretary of State Colin Powell says. “I’m concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them.”
Powell also seems to sound a note of warning to the young president.
“I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I’ve talked to some of his people about this — is that you can’t have so many things on the table that you can’t absorb it all. And we can’t pay for it all.”
Even as he raises concerns about the new Democratic president’s agenda, Powell also seems to back away from some of his own conservative views.
Just one more victim of the rock star mob mentality that allowed Obama to get elected. Now they are finding out the truth.

David Feherty, CBS golf analyst, cracked a joke in a magazine recently about Pelosi and Reid being killed by US troops in an elevator. He has now been forced to apologize for such a gruesome joke about the deaths of prominent Americans.
CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty apologized Sunday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for a morbid joke that went bad in a Dallas magazine.
Feherty, one of the most popular golf analysts for his sharp wit and self-deprecating humor, was among five Dallas residents who wrote for “D Magazine” on former President George W. Bush moving to Dallas.
“From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this though,” Feherty wrote toward the end of his column.
“Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”
This apology makes me wonder if our president, and Wanda Sykes will apologize for the exact same thing. Recently Wanda Sykes cracked a joke at a presidential event calling Rush Limbaugh a terrorist, drug addict, and wishing for Rush’s death via kidney failure.
There is really no difference between the two situations. Some will make issue with it being the president laughing at the death of a political opponent, and others will make issue with Feherty going after the leaders of both houses of congress. Regardless, if one is forced to apologize … the others should as well.
UPDATE: The White House has finally caught on that the president behaved like an ass.

Bush is once again taking the high road that so often angered his supporters when he was president. He is refusing to sling mud back at those who attack him. This time that person is our current president.

Man, I love kicking the enemy’s ass! This is the sort of thing that makes you want to down a bottle of scotch, and toast your enemy’s death. GO BUSH!!
Before President George W. Bush leaves office it’s only fitting to give credit to where credit it due. Although you would not know this from the anti-Bush media or democrats, the US military has waged the most successful major military campaign in American history these past 8 years.
The War on Terror has been an amazing success not only in what has been accomplished
but in what it has cost in lives. Two brutal regimes were obliterated, Al-Qaeda was decimated, fledgling democracies were established. But, most importantly, the US was able to do this while sacrificing the fewest number of soldiers monthly than in any other military campaign in US history. In fact, the US today is losing fewer soldiers each month
in Iraq and Afghanistan combined than the average number of soldiers lost monthly during the Clinton years
(~35 to 78).
Here’s how the War on Terror stacks up with other US Wars:
The population today in the US is much larger than when these previous wars were fought. If you factor that in it really puts things into perspective.

It’s not news to discover Reid is a hypocrite with no memory, but it is somewhat humorous.
Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada said Monday that he is willing to let bygones be bygones in hopes of achieving cooperation with Republicans in the new Congress that starts in January.
“I want everyone within the sound of my voice to know, we don’t know what our majority is going to be, but whatever it is … I make a commitment to everyone that the only way we can succeed is working together,” Reid said.
Yeah … I’ll bet. Cooperation from Reid is the same as Stalin’s definition of freedom. Reid doesn’t seek cooperation at all with Republicans … he seeks servitude. Cooperation is something Reid can’t define, so allow me to help.
I guarantee you Reid isn’t interested in working with Republicans for a mutual benefit. He wants a Democrat benefit, and he seeks to halt any Republican benefits.
It is ironic Reid is calling for cooperation now, because he blatantly refused cooperation with Republicans on any issue since he has become Majority Leader of the Senate. Remember when he created the “war room” after talking about cooperation with Republicans in 2004?
But wait … Reid doesn’t want you to remember that.
“For me personally this is also a time not to look back,” Reid said, referring to the past two years when Democrats controlled only a small majority, leading to gridlock on many major issues.
“There is no need to look back,” Reid said. “There are reasons for everyone doing what they did, and we can let the historians write about what took place in the past.
“I would hope we all would look forward to a coming year as one of hope and necessity to change things because we obviously have a big hole, and we have to dig our way out of it,” Reid said. “The best thing is we have a hundred people digging in the same way.”
Told you Reid wasn’t interested in cooperation. He just made it clear that everyone must be working in the same way. His way no doubt.
