Chicago Bears’ Devin Hester Moves To Offense

Posted by Casey on May 14, 2007

Devin Hester, the rookie who shattered the return TD record last year, is moving to the offensive side of the ball. For those of you who don’t follow the Bears, or Hester, he is a defensive back.

Hester has been heavily recruited by the Bears coaches to switch to offense and be the Chicago version of Reggie Bush. He has held out for long time saying that he wanted to play defense, but he also likes scoring touchdowns. In they end, the option of going for 6 won him over, and the Bears announced that Hester will move to offense this coming season.

Naturally, the Bears are very excited about the move because Hester may be the most dangerous player in the NFL with a football in his hands, and comparisons to Reggie Bush are not far fetched. Hester is also not new to playing offense so the transition should be fairly smooth.

Rex Grossman is like a kid in a candy store with all of the new offensive weapons he’s been given this offseason. Drafting Greg Olsen at tight end, and now moving Devin Hester to offense, will add two electrifying weapons to an already very potent offense. With Grossman’s first full season as a starter being vastly superior to many of the great hall of fame quarterbacks (in spite of some bumps) his development will continue to benefit from such quality players to rely upon.
