My favorite local talk show host has done it again. Casey Hendrickson has come up with a new name for Obama supporters, number 2’s. He’s talked about it on his show the past couple of days, and he wrote about it on his Myspace blog.
Basically, he makes the argument that Obama supporters predominantly harbor the second deadly sin, envy. Hence, number 2’s.
Think about Obama’s platform for a minute, and why people support him. His supporters are usually envious of those who have more money, health care, or success. They are also envious of other people’s cars, boats, houses, and careers. Obama’s whole campaign focuses on this envy of others’ success, and promises to punish those whom his supporters envy. That’s where most of his support is coming from.
Envy is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation. The reason people have envy is because other people are so much luckier, smarter, more attractive, and better than they are. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
Indeed it does. Hopefully this one will stick.
